I have a huge passion for everything that has to do with writing, literature, reading and translation. Or with the world of languages and communication in a broad sense. In this section I show you all the linguistic services I offer, which I usually adapt to the preferences of each person. The personalized approach and service defines my working method.
Editorial and literary translation into Spanish
I translate from Dutch, English, French and Catalan into Spanish, my mother tongue. I translate novels, graphic novels, essays, biographies, short stories, plays and poetry, among others. My particular interest is in narrative fiction.
Proofreading and style editing
I have a superhuman ability to spot typos in the books I read, on restaurant menus or on the signs of the shops in my neighborhood. If I already spot them in my spare time, imagine when I put on my proofreader’s glasses and pick up a red pen! I love proofreading texts, both to remove missing or extra commas and to improve the style of your text, whether it’s literary or not. I always proofread texts written in Spanish, my mother tongue.
Reading reports
I offer the service of writing reading reports for several publishing houses. I read originals in Spanish or Catalan, as well as books published in English, French and Dutch, and I make an evaluation, both commercial and literary, writing the reports in Spanish. These reports are always adapted to the catalogue and the line of the publisher who has commissioned them. I also offer this same service directly to writers who need it, as well as advice on how to find a spot in the Spanish publishing world.
Marketing, Spanish copywriting and transcreation into Spanish
Revision of translations
If you already have a translation done from English, French, Dutch or Catalan into Spanish and you need me to check it, four eyes see more than two. Misinterpretations, parts of sentences that have been left out by mistake or terms that are not correct for the context or that could be rephrased to improve the flow of the text. I also improve the style of translations, looking for precisely the sentence that reads best or the right term for each context.
Proofreading and assessment of original manuscripts
Do you have a manuscript in Spanish? I can write a reading report in Spanish, pointing out areas for improvement. An external and expert look at your manuscript can guide you in a more objective way. I have a great knowledge of the Spanish publishing world and the current demand. I can also offer you a service to help you find the best home for your manuscript by indicating which publishing doors you can knock on, and the best way to do it.
Art and museum translation
I translate from Dutch, English, French and Catalan into Spanish, my mother tongue. Over the years I have done several translation projects for museums, both for the translation of the permanent and temporary exhibitions or translations to be read in an audio guide. In 2013 I was an intern at a museum in Ghent, Belgium, where I translated the permanent exhibition into Spanish, and since then, museums, like libraries, are places of pause, peace and cultural encounter for me.
Talks, events, book clubs
Although I love my translator and writer’s cave, if you take me out I’m also very happy. Especially if you take me out to talk about books, literary translation and literature. From talks at literary translation festivals to book clubs, you can contact me and we can prepare a nice event adapted to your bookshop or whatever you have in mind.
General translation
I translate from Dutch, English, French and Catalan into Spanish, my mother tongue. I offer translation of all kinds of texts. I am very curious and for me, any text is a learning experience. I have translated everything from instruction manuals for machine parts to letters and correspondence, I would love to read your proposal! All this with the strictest confidentiality.
Copywriting
I am a writer, a fiction writer. My creative capacity and my curiosity have no limits. For that reason, I have a knack for writing all kinds of texts in Spanish, whether it’s content creation from scratch for websites or blog or magazine articles.
Legal and financial translation
I translate from Dutch, English, French and Catalan into Spanish, my mother tongue. Before starting my studies in Translation and Interpreting, I graduated in Economics. This knowledge has allowed me to approach financial and legal texts from a different perspective and with a professional knowledge of the subject matter, adding value to the translations. I really enjoy this kind of assignments, because I always learn something new, from sales contracts to birth certificates and financial statements. All in the strictest confidence.
Transcription
If you have an audio or video file in Spanish and you need a transcription, I can help you with this service. Sometimes people speak very quietly, or are not understood at all, but someone else picks up what they are saying. I have experience in this service and an ability to know what is being said, in the specific context in which it is being said, from meetings to speeches.
Audiovisual translation and subtitling into Spanish
I translate from Dutch, English, French and Catalan into Spanish, my mother tongue. I offer audiovisual translation services in a broad sense, from subtitling translation to dubbing. My particular interest is in series and documentaries.
Literary scout
My great love for books leads me to offer the service of literary scout, sending proposals for the translation of books that I fall in love with and that have not yet found a place in the Spanish literary scene. I have had several successful cases in these adventures. If you are a writer, you write in English, French, Dutch or Catalan, and you want me to do this service with your book, you can contact me. In this sense, in August 2024 I was selected for the Archipelagos grant, where I did research of books to propose. Here you can see the result.
